Alex Brundle is entered in the ELMS in a Greaves Motorsport Zytek-Nissan and at Le Mans he will team up with his dad, Martin, who won the race in 1990 in a Jaguar. The Brundles are already preparing for this big event.

What’s your best Le Mans memory?
Martin:
“My best memory of the Le Mans 24 Hours is standing on the podium in front of the Jaguar fans. The old, fast, uninterrupted Mulsanne straight was both scary and exhilarating to drive.  It was a feeling unique in motorsport.”
Alex:
“I only did the test day. The Greaves Zytek is so stable that I was able to put in some fast times straight away, which added to the pleasure of driving this great race track.”

Why are you racing together?
Alex:“To have a team-mate I can rely on!”
Martin: “I shared a race car with Alex in the Radical SR8 at Brands Hatch and he showed he’s ready for Le Mans. I still have the speed and physical fitness to drive in such a race.”

How will your team-mate help you?
Alex: “I think his advice will be very valuable and will complete what I’ve learned in single-seater racing. Driving alongside him will also help us to exchange knowledge freely, which isn’t always easy with another team-mate.”
Martin: “Alex will be helpful to me because he has new knowledge and techniques, and will unquestionably be very well informed on the analysis of the data acquisition systems on the car.”

And how will you help him?
Alex:
“By pushing him to give his very best. We’re already training in the gym together!”
Martin: “At Le Mans you often learn from bad experiences. I hope I’ll be able to spare Alex some of these:”

Who’ll be the quicker?
Martin: “Alex is 21, I’m 52…”
Alex: “It doesn’t matter as long as WE’RE the quickest!”

What’s your aim?
Alex: “To win!”
Martin: “Hmm, it’s going to be something very special, but finishing would already be pretty good.”

Are you going to continue in endurance?
Alex: “My ultimate goal is Formula 1. However winning Le Mans overall in a Works LM P1 is also a personal dream.”
Martin: “First and foremost I want to enjoy the Le Mans experience with my son... Afterwards, we’ll see.”
