| 15th March 2012 After a shakedown in California ten days ago, the DeltaWing had its first run in public today on the Florida circuit.
Two days after the official announcement of the partnership with Nissan, the arrow designed by Ben Bowlby was a big hit with the photographers and the other teams who were very curious to get near the car. Marino Franchitti did two laps of the track without problems: “It seemed to be very well balanced the first time it ran,” he explained. “In terms of handling it’s a cross between a prototype and a single-seater. It’s very stable and I quickly got used to not being able to see the front wheels.” Next week, the DeltaWing will have a real test session on the Sebring circuit before heading off to Europe in around ten days. It will then begin an intensive test programme including a 30-hour simulation. In Europe, the American team will take up residence in the RML premises. Text: Alain Pernot – Photo: Christian Vignon |
